The next-generation smart phone comes in four colors, including the new rose gold.

Apple’s fall product event is typically all about iPhones, but CEO Tim Cook waited until three quarters of the way through the Sept. 9 shindig to bring up the company’s popular device.

But when he did finally unveil the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, he got big cheers from the crowd. “We have changed everything about these new iPhones,” he told the audience.

The next-generation smart phone comes with a new feature called 3D touch, which senses multiple levels of pressure from the finger on the touch pad. This allows for a function called “peek” where a user can quickly preview information without having to open up a different app.

The New iPhone camera: – iSight camera – 12 megapixels – 50% more pixels than before. The iPhone 6s comes in the standard three colors — silver, gold and space gray — and in a brand new rose gold color.

In the phone’s messages, a flight number can lead to more information about flight times. Without having to go to Safari, a website link in messages can also provide a preview of that site.

While the phones will keep their existing sizes, the company also introduced a new kind of “strongest” glass on the screen. The new iPhones are available in four colors, with a new rose gold aluminum finish, silver, gold and space grey.

Apple said it sold 47.5 million iPhones in its third quarter of this year, a record for that period from April through June, the company announced in July.

The new iPhones have a 12-megapixel iSight camera, 50 percent more pixels than before, with the ability to take larger panorama photos and, for the first time, 4K HD video. Apple vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller claims iPhone users can take video with better resolution. There is also a new FaceTime HD camera for more detailed photos. The flash on the camera offers TrueTone, which matches the light with the ambient lighting.

Using 3D Touch, Schiller introduced “Live Photos,” allowing details in the photos to move, such as a moving waterfall with the sound of rushing water. A new icon on the camera status bar makes it easy to take Live Photos, just as you take traditional photos.

Apple (AAPL) Introduces Giant iPad Pro, Apple Pencil at 2015 Apple Special Event

Apple introduced the giant iPad Pro plus updates to the Apple Watch and software, including the date of the watch’s OS 2 software update, and new accessories.

The iPad Pro in silver, gold and space gray, the largest iPad yet, was introduced on stage in San Francisco by Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing. Schiller showed the pros of a larger iPad that measures 12.9-inches diagonally with a retina display. The width of the iPad Pro is the same of the height of the iPad Air, with 5.6 million pixels. The product has 10 hours of battery life, Schiller said.

The iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32 GB Wi-Fi model; $949 for the 128 GB Wi-Fi model; and $1,079 for the 128 GB model, which comes with Wi-Fi and cellular capabilities.

For the first time, there is a four-speaker audio system on the iPad with the new product.

“It puts up three times the audio volume of an iPad Air 2,” Schiller said, while touting its thin width of 6.9 mm and weight of about 1.5 pounds.

“Yeah, these guys know productivity,” Schiller said.

Schiller introduced a new accessory specifically for the iPad Pro, called the $169 “Smart Keyboard,” that connects to the iPad Pro with three new circles along the side of the iPad Pro: the smart connector. It carries power and data to the keyboard. The software in iOS 9 helps the two adapt to each other.

The $99 Apple Pencil is a new accessory that works with the iPad Pro. Apple chief design officer Jony Ive said in a video that the iPad display senses the pencil’s force and angle to vary the appearance of the lines a user draws.

The pencil, keyboard and iPad Pro will be available starting in November.

The event kicked off with a demo by AirStrip, a mobile healthcare company, which can use the Apple Watch to help doctors monitor the health and heartbeat of a pregnant patient and her baby.

Available in select stores in October, a new luxury Apple Watch Hermes will be available to customers. The company also introduced new Apple Watch models and bands. Gold and rose gold and anodized aluminum, available at the same price as the rest of the Apple Watch Sports lineup.

Apple is updating the watch’s classic leather in new brown and black shades. A stainless steel case for the Product(red) brand, with some proceeds going to the fight against HIV/AIDS. The Apple Watch OS 2 will be available Sept. 16.

iPhone 6S: Here’s Everything You Need To Know (Will  be updated after the Apple Event)

Apple may have done a fine job of keeping its mouth shut about its inevitable annual upgrade, but it seemingly can’t silence those on the factory line. The iPhone 6 follow-on has been the subject of much rumor and speculation, with everything from improved camera optics to a more robust design tipped to make an appearance.

iPhone 6S: What do we know?
– Expected unveiling: September 9, 2015
– Likely release date: September 18, 2015
– Rumored specs: 4.7-inch Retina display, A9 processor, iOS 9, 12-megapixel camera
– Key features: Force Touch display, reinforced body, pink model

Pink iPhone 6S leakToday’s Apple event is likely to emphasize the power of polish. Patient folks who have waited for the refined updates to Apple’s latest hardware are likely to be rewarded. Refined updates of the iPhone, Apple TV, and iPad, each with a bit more power and a handful of novel features, have been rumored to make an appearance.

We should learn about the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. They’re likely to look the same as their predecessors, but with faster processors, an improved camera, and Force Touch, the haptic feedback already part of newer MacBook trackpads and the Apple Watch.

We’re hesitant to say anything, but this will probably be the year Apple updates the Apple TV. The Apple TV has been rumored for previous Apple events, only to be a no-show, but all signs point to the new Apple TV, now with a Siri integrated remote, showing up on stage. The rumored price tag is somewhere between $149 and $199, a significant bump above the $69 asking price for the current model. Perhaps Apple will show the long-rumored Apple TV video game controller.
