#TheVampireDiaries “The Five” Recap: There May be a Cure to Being a Vampire?!

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

“You’re a vampire now, you just have to learn the right way to be one.” – Damon to Elena

Damon doles out some sage advice to a struggling Elena during Thursday’s episode entitled “The Rager”, and that was sort of the quote of the night! Anything else seemed just so so and nothing’s really great, but that was still an entertaining episode and that’s what matters, right!? 😉

#TVD “Memorial” Recap: Alaric is Back, He Missed #Bromance With Damon!

Well, on the latest installment of The Vampire Diaries, Rebekah threw a “rager” of a party, Elena struggled to adapt to her vampire lifestyle and Damon set out to take out Connor, the dangerous vampire hunter, who sought out Jeremy to be his potential protege and there’s a new character, Hayley, dropped by Mystic Falls and her entrance ruffled some feathers.

EDITOR RATINGS: 7.1 out of 10

WHAT HAPPENED?

Matt is Such a Gentleman! 8:04 p.m.: Ever the good guy, Matt (Zach Roerig) continues to offer his blood as a food source for Elena (Nina Dobrev) in a shaded corner on the grounds of the high school. Where else? While Matt doesn’t believe that Elena should even be at school, with her being a vampire and all, and one senses that it’s a forewarning of what’s to come for the Gilbert. Oh, and there’s a curfew being instilled throughout the town. Wonder why.

It’s Rebekah Bitch! 8:08 p.m.: The rebellious Rebekah (Claire Holt) decides to throw an anti-curfew party and to keep ragging on Elena, throwing a sharpened pencil straight into Elena’s shoulder in Alaric’s classroom. Ouch. Moments later, the blonde Original plays a mean trick, taking the fresh blood from an unsuspecting classmate and slathering it all over Elena’s face. Brutal.

#GreysAnatomy “I Saw Her Standing There” Recap: Get Up, Stand Up!

The invisible tattoo! 8:13 p.m.: That “invisible” tattoo only Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) saw last week? Connor (Todd Williams) reveals it’s a “hunter’s mark” for vampire hunters. Interestingly, it’s a mark that only potential vampire hunters can see. Is that a direction Jeremy may be headed in?

Welcome to Mystic Falls, Hayley! 8:15 p.m.: It’s safe to assume Hayley and Tyler (Michael Trevino) have some unfinished business. (And The Lumineers’ “Ho Hey” playing in the background certainly put viewers in a certain mood.)

8:25 p.m.: Elena’s desperate for Damon’s bourbon stash, because it’s much better than Stefan’s. In classic Damon fashion, he tricks her into rummaging through his underwear drawer.

8:30 p.m.: Rebekah ups the ante in her torture, throwing Elena’s daylight ring into the sink, causing Elena to feel the painful aftereffects. Fortunately, Elena recovers her prized possession and Stefan talks some sense into her when he sees the dagger she has in her hand, presumably to go after Rebekah.

8:35 p.m.: Elena finally has fun. For once.

#AHS-Asylum “Tricks and Treats” Recap: Mad House is Getting Creepier!

Damon and Klaus in Action! 8:39 p.m.: Damon and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) team up to beat Connor at his own game. “Nice try, I’m faster than your average vampire,” Klaus declares, grabbing Connor’s wooden stake. Seconds later, Connor says before setting the room on blast: “I’m faster than your average hunter.” Boom!

8:46 p.m.: Rebekah has a nightmare of sorts, when she — as well as Elena — realize that something’s not right (thanks to Connor’s werewolf venom). During Rebekah’s troubling hallucination, her former love interest Matt reveals to her why she can’t find love: “The reason you don’t find love is because you don’t deserve it.” And there’s Matt’s heart. But whew, it’s not real.

8:50 p.m.: This is a telling scene between a weak Elena, who hallucinates seeing Damon again. Elena: “Why am I thinking about you?” Damon: “Because you’re a vampire now and a part of you knows you’re a lot more like me than you are like him.” Klaus is needed to help cure Elena. Funny how that works.

8:52 p.m.: This smells like trouble. Does Rebekah have a new friend in April (Grace Phipps)?

Learn to be a Vampire! 8:57 p.m.: Elena feeds on Matt, and unlike in the top of the hour when she successfully controlled her hunger, she’s close to endangering him. Damon swoops in and saves the day: “Stop!” The elder Salvatore gives some sage advice: “You’re a vampire now, you just have to learn the right way to be one.” (Translation: Like me!)

SOME THOUGHTS:

– This episode was still entertaining but I have to admit, it was the weakest episode of the show, so far! I just didn’t find anything really special and great like the previous episodes but only some intense moments. Yeah, it has its moments but that’s all. Nothing’s special that the viewers can really connected to like it used to be.

– Some questions finally answered though, but as the old-fashion style of #TVD writers, we got another burning questions especially at the end of the episode and we can only find the answers if we just keep watching the show next week, okay! 😉

That’s all folks. How about you? What did you think about the episode? What was your favorite moment from the episode? Sounds off below 😉

The Vampire Diaries airs 8 p.m. Thursdays on The CW.
